Notice Requirements
Two types of notice are required: publication of the grant of letters and direct notice to all beneficiaries under Rule 10.5.

Publication of Letters (3162)
Advertise the grant of letters once a week for 3 successive weeks in:
- A legal periodical in the county (e.g., Pittsburgh Legal Journal)
- A newspaper of general circulation (e.g., Pittsburgh Post-Gazette or Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)
This starts the 1-year creditor claims period.
Rule 10.5 Beneficiary Notice
Within 3 months of appointment, the personal representative must send written notice to:
- All beneficiaries named in the will
- All intestate heirs (if no will or partial intestacy)
- The surviving spouse (always)
Notice must inform them of their right to an accounting and their right to object.
